You've had your Apple AirPods for a while and you love them. However, you start to realise they're not charging properly. You start to panic and worry they're broken but don't worry, we're here to help and troubleshoot your problem. Keep on reading below in this week's help to see what the problem is with your AirPods.
Reasons why your AirPod Case is not charging and solutions
Check the connection and cable
Your AirPods not charging could be as easy as the connection or cable being interrupted by something. Make sure your cable isn't the faulty one and try using another or from a different power source like your PC or a different plug. Also, inspect your cable to make sure there's no damage to it. This may seem simple but do make sure it's connected properly and securely. If this doesn't help, keep on reading.
Clean your AirPods
Your AirPods go through a lot. The charging port can build up a lot of debris and dirt over time if they're being thrown into your pocket or at the bottom of your bag. Wipe it down, don't use water as this can damage your AirPods. Use a cotton bud to wipe away any dirt or grime. Make sure you do this carefully not to break any connections.
Update your AirPods
It may not be your problem at all, make sure your AirPods are up to date with the latest software. They will update automatically when connected to Wi-Fi. To double-check if it has been updated, go to your Bluetooth settings and check if an update is required. If you're not sure you have the latest update, check the firmware update with Apple's latest firmware update over on their website.
Preform a Reset
Still not charging? You may need to reset your AirPods. Put your earbuds in their case and close the lid. Forget the device on your BlueTooth settings and then press and hold the setup button on the back of your case until the status light flashes amber to white. Reconnect them to your device and see if that helps with any charging issues.
Still not working?
We know this is a worrying and troublesome situation as AirPods are not a cheap investment. If they're still not charging you may need a new case. To make sure you have the best care possible, take your AirPods to an Apple store to get checked out. Your AirPods may still be under warranty so check before buying a new case! AirPod cases can't be repaired so you'll either get a replacement or may have to purchase new ones.
